SPARC Internal Review - deadlines for March 1, 2012 CIHR Operating Grant
SPARC is currently accepting registrations for Internal Review (IR) for the March 1, 2012 CIHR Operating Grant competition competitions. See below for details.
Registration: Thursday, January 5, 2012
- Submit IR application form (download it at http://www.ors.ubc.ca/sparc/internal-review-forms) and one-page research summary to christy.mctait@ubc.ca (or sparc.ir@ubc.ca).
- For potential resubmissions, please register even if you’re awaiting results from the September 15, 2011 competition so that SPARC can begin identifying possible reviewers. It’s no problem to cancel IR if you don’t need to resubmit!
- Note: SPARC will confirm 1 reviewer per application (2 upon request).
Submission of grant materials: Thursday, January 26, 2012
- Summary of Research Proposal: 1 full page
- Research Proposal: 11 or 13 pages
- Summary of Progress: 1 full page
- For Resubmissions*, also submit your CIHR Reviews and Response to Reviews (2 pages)
- Highlight revised text in all documents in yellow
*For those resubmitting an application from the last round (the September 15, 2011 competition), you may not have received your CIHR Reviews by the IR submission deadline. In these cases, submit your materials as outlined above by Monday, February 6, 2012 instead.
Note: The same deadlines are used for Faculty of Medicine (FoM) Grant Development (GD). If you are working with other Grant Facilitators/Research Development Officers, contact them directly to make arrangements.
The onus is on the researcher to register and submit all of the required documents by the deadlines outlined above. Researchers who fail to meet the requirements may be ineligible to receive IR.
Why is SPARC getting strict on IR deadlines and requirements?
- To enhance quality of service for researchers who are able to meet our requirements;
- To focus our energies, as well as those of our generous internal reviewers, where the impact will be greatest (e.g., new faculty submissions and highly ranked resubmissions); and
- To manage limited resources in a realistic, transparent and sustainable way.
