Joining a new university or transitioning into a faculty role can be a daunting prospect.
The Faculty Relations Office website answers most questions about recruitment; immigration; appointment; orientation; compensation; tenure and promotion; and sabbaticals and retirement.
As well, the VPRI Office provides research orientation opportunities and resources:

New Faculty Luncheons
New Faculty Luncheons are informal meetings that offer new and junior faculty members the chance to discuss research matters with the Vice President Research & International.
These small-group sessions create a forum to support the activities of new and junior faculty members, and provide valuable feedback for the continuous improvement of UBC's research infrastructure.
The lunches are scheduled twice each year in the fall and spring, and are open to faculty members who have been at UBC for fewer than three years.
