Support Programs for Industry

There are many programs available to support industry partnerships with UBC researchers.

NSERC has several programs aimed at generating and nurturing industry engagement with academic research.

Connect Grants: Build a new relationship with an academic researcher.
Engage Grants: Undertake a short-term R&D project to address a specific problem.
Collaborative Research and Development: Conduct a well-defined R&D project with a university researcher.
Industrial Research Chairs: Participate in a significant long-term research project.
Strategic Partnership Grants: increase research and training in targeted areas that could strongly enhance Canada’s economy, society and/or environment

SSHRC offers formal partnership grants that can support interactions between UBC and non-academic partners.

Partnership Development Grants provide support to foster new research and/or related activities with new or existing partners; and to design and test new partnership approaches for research and/or related activities.
Partnership Grants provide support to new or existing formal partnerships for initiatives that advance research, research training and/or knowledge mobilization in the social sciences and humanities.

The Mitacs Accelerate program gives organizations access to highly talented UBC graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
