We expect to name up to 10 Distinguished University Scholars this year.
Can University Killam Professors be nominated for a Distinguished University Scholar award?
There are no restrictions on who can apply for the DUS award – University Killam Professors can be nominated.
Can Canada Research Chairs be nominated for a Distinguished University Scholar award?
There are no restrictions on who can apply for the DUS award – CRC holders can be nominated.
What are the terms of this award distinction?
Distinguished University Scholars are appointed to a five-year term. This term is renewable once. Scholars will be given an annual stipend of $20,000 for the duration of the appointment, and a one-time research allowance of $20,000 when the appointment is first announced.
Can the salary stipend be used for teaching buy-out time or as discretionary funds?
Do nominees need to be of a particular academic rank?
