Today, the Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau, Minister of National Revenue, on behalf of the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, announced that $123.1 million in federal research funding has been awarded through 503 Insight Grants and 590 Insight Development Grants to researchers working in social sciences and humanities disciplines at institutions across Canada.
The SSHRC Insight Grants and Insight Development Grants enable scholars to further our collective understanding of individuals and societies, as well as to inform the search for solutions to societal challenges.
83 projects led by UBC researchers have been awarded $11.5 million in funding through these grants.
These grants were announced as part of the Government of Canada's investment of over $502.3 million in support of over 6,900 researchers and research projects across Canada. This includes funding for new UBC-led projects through SSHRC Insight Grants and Insight Development Grants; Tri-Agency Scholarships and Fellowships; and CFI's John R. Evans Leaders Fund.
