Federal Research Chair Programs

The Office of the Vice-President, Research & Innovation is responsible for the administration of a number of federal research chair programs. 

 

Canada Research Chairs

The Government of Canada established the Canada Research Chairs program in 2000 to enable Canadian universities to achieve the highest levels of research excellence and become world-class research centres.

 

Canada Excellence Research Chairs

The Canada Excellence Research Chairs (CERC) program aims to support world-renowned researchers and their teams to establish ambitious research programs at Canadian universities.

 

Canada 150 Research Chairs

In celebration of Canada’s 150th anniversary, the Canada 150 Research Chairs program was created to enhance Canada's reputation as a global centre for science, research and innovation excellence.

Information on the President's Excellence Chairs program, created to attract great faculty who will enable cutting-edge research and an excellent student learning experience to attract top students, is available on the VP Academic website.
