Over $9 million in funding through the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada’s (NSERC) PromoScience program is being invested to support science promotion and outreach programs that aim to engage and inspire young Canadians to develop their skills and curiosity through science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
UBC is leading two of the forty funded projects.
The NSERC PromosScience awards were announced by the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science, and Industry, as part of the Government of Canada's investment of more than $308 million to advance research and innovation projects. This includes funding of $5.1m for six new and renewed Canada Research Chairs at UBC through the Canada Research Chairs program and CFI's John R. Evans Leaders Fund.
