Twenty-three Research Excellence Clusters led by researchers at UBC Vancouver are being funded through the 2025/26 Grants for Catalyzing Research Clusters (GCRC). A further 19 clusters are in the second year of their GCRC funding.
Of the 23 clusters funded through the latest GCRC competition, 15 are new clusters funded for the first time. The new clusters in 2025/26 are:

- Indigeneity in and out of place
- Pacific Islands Research Network
- Pacific Rim Initiative for Sustainable Marine Systems (PRISMS)
- PREVENT-AMR: Prevention of AMR via a One Health Approach
- Roots for Indigenous Partnered Research
Research Excellence Clusters are interdisciplinary networks of researchers working together to solve challenges that transcend traditional boundaries associated with departments, institutions, and funding agencies. The GCRC program supports Strategy 6 of UBC’s Strategic Plan, Research Excellence. The GCRC was jointly created by the Office of the Vice-President, Research & Innovation and the Office of the Provost & Vice-President, Academic, UBC Vancouver.
