Search for a new Associate Vice-President, Research & Innovation

UBC is embarking on a search for a new Associate Vice-President, Research & Innovation (AVPRI) to succeed Professor Helen Burt who completes her term in early 2021.

The successful candidate will join VP, Research & Innovation Gail Murphy and the current AVPRIs Matthew Evenden and Phil Barker (who is also Vice-Principal, Research & Innovation at UBC Okanagan) in sharing the leadership of the units within the portfolio.

The Vice-President, Research & Innovation portfolio provides UBC researchers and innovators with strategic information, resources and tools to support their work from grant-writing through to impact. The portfolio also provides strategy and support for major research initiatives and partnerships, and facilitates access to research opportunities for faculty members, staff and students.

The appointment is for a five-year term and is renewable for a second term. This is an internal search. UBC faculty members with the rank of full professor and an outstanding academic record are invited to apply.
