On December 30, 2020, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada, announced 61 new appointments to the Order of Canada.
The Order of Canada is one of our country’s highest civilian honours. Its Companions, Officers and Members take to heart the motto of the Order: DESIDERANTES MELIOREM PATRIAM ("They desire a better country").
Created in 1967, the Order of Canada recognizes outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation.
The new list includes 1 Companion (C.C.), 13 Officers (O.C.) and 47 Members (C.M.). Recipients will be invited to accept their insignia at a ceremony to be held at a future date.
These new appointments include current, emeritus and former UBC faculty members. Congratulations to all new appointees.
