Research Security Workshop Series 2022

A series of three engaging and thought-provoking one-hour conversations about evolving geopolitical risks and their impact on university research were held from March 30 - April 13, 2022. 

Speakers and panelists included representatives from Innovation, Science & Economic Development (ISED), the Canadian Security Intelligence Service, along with academic colleagues from the host institutions.

  • March 30: Current Issues & Considerations
    Representatives from the Canadian Security Intelligence Service and from Innovation, Science & Economic Development spoke about current issues and considerations with regard to research security at post-secondary institutions.
     
  • April 4: Academic Perspectives on Research Security
    Dr. Victor V. Ramraj, a faculty member from the Faculty of Law at the University of Victoria provided an academic perspective on the CSIS and ISED presentations from the previous week. Recordings
     
  • April 13: Research Partnerships, Geopolitical Risk & National Security Law
    A panel discussed their experiences with the NSERC Alliance program, provided an academic perspective of the impact of research security on research institutions, and considered geopolitical risk and national security law. Recordings
