Today, the Honourable Pablo Rodriguez, Minister of Transport and Quebec Lieutenant, on behalf of the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, and the Honourable Mark Holland, Minister of Health, announced support for 7,700 researchers and research projects all across Canada. This represents an investment of over $1.7 billion.
The funding is distributed across the country through:
- 2022-23 Scholarships and Fellowships
- The Canada Research Chairs (CRC) program with additional investment through the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) John R. Evans Leaders Fund
- The CFI Innovation Fund
- SSHRC Insight Development Grants
- 2023–24 Research Support Fund and Incremental Projects Grants
- NSERC Alliance Grants
UBC-Led Projects and Canada Research Chairs
Nineteen UBC researchers were announced as new and renewed Canada Research Chairs in the latest round of appointments, with five UBC CRCs receiving support through the CFI JELF program.
Ten projects led by UBC researchers have been awarded $36 million in funding.
SSHRC Insight Development Grants
A total of 46 projects led by UBC researchers were awarded funding through the 2023 Insight Development Grants competition, with combined awards of over $2.7 million.
A total of 52 projects led by UBC researchers were announced as receiving funding through the 2022/23 Alliance Grants program, with combined funding of $17.5 million.
Additional funding was received by UBC through graduate student and postdoctoral scholarships and fellowships, and support through the Research Support Fund.
