The UBC Collaborative Research Mobility Awards (CRMA) program is now open again. It provides up to $5,000 to support new or existing research partnerships between UBC researchers in the Okanagan and Vancouver. Faculty members from all disciplines are invited to apply. Funding may be used to cover travel and accommodation costs associated with meetings, accessing specialized equipment, or other partnership activities.

The Government of B.C. is supporting research at UBC with more than $560,000 to help lead the way to more effective mental-health treatments through the BC Knowledge Development Fund (BCKDF).

This contribution, through the Canada Foundation for Innovation’s (CFI) John R. Evans Leaders Fund (JELF), will help universities more competitively recruit and retain outstanding researchers by helping acquire the state-of-the-art labs, equipment and facilities they need to make discoveries that will have an impact on Canadians.

The Research Facility Support Grants (RFSG) competition provides funding for the operation, maintenance, replacement, repair or upgrade of equipment used in UBC facilities to support research.

The RFSGs are one-year grants of up to $50,000 intended to enhance UBC research, training, and equipment sustainability.  

Researchers located on the UBC Vancouver campus and affiliated hospital sites are eligible to apply.

The 2022/23 Community-University Engagement Support (CUES) Fund is open! Get up to $25,000 to support community-university partnerships that benefit communities across the province and advance collaborative research, teaching, and learning. Interested applicants are invited to submit a Notice of Intent by October 21, 2022.

Research Ethics BC (REBC)* has contracted an external consultant to evaluate the harmonized research ethics review models being used in BC. If you have submitted a multi-jurisdictional study for ethics review in BC, they would like to hear from you. 

The survey will take between 15-30 minutes to complete. 

Completion is requested by Saturday September 17th.

The Sustainability Hub is proud to announce the return of the Campus as a Living Lab (CLL) Competition for 22-23.

This year, the CLL Fund Competition will provide seed funding of up to $50,000 for 4 to 6 innovative projects in one of four priority areas. As part of CIHR’s ongoing security enhancements to ResearchNet, a multifactor authentication process will need to be implemented. This process would require ResearchNet users to enter a code at time of login that would be sent to the email address connected to their account profile to authenticate their identity. CIHR would like to to hear from the research community about about how this change will impact their use of ResearchNet.

UBC researchers are leading 47 projects awarded a total of $38.3 million through the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Project Grants: Spring 2022 competition. 

In total, the Project Grants: Spring 2022 competition approved 405 research grants, plus 2 bridge grants, for a total investment of approximately $325M. In addition, 61 priority announcement grants were funded for a total amount of $10,779,207 and 16 supplemental prizes were awarded for a total of $1,060,000
