Dr. Mel Krajden at the British Columbia Centre for Disease Control, and professor in UBC's department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, leads the project BOLSTER-3-Pathogen Research: Building Operational Laboratory Strength To Enhance Risk 3 Pathogen Research that was awarded over $4m. This project will modernize one of the containment level 3 labs at the British Columbia Centre for Disease Control to focus on SARS-CoV-2, tuberculosis and multidrug-resistant pathogens.

The UBC Collaborative Research Mobility Awards (CRMA) program is now open again. It provides up to $5,000 to support new or existing research partnerships between UBC researchers in the Okanagan and Vancouver. Faculty members from all disciplines are invited to apply. Funding may be used to cover travel and accommodation costs associated with meetings, accessing specialized equipment, or other partnership activities.

Evans Leaders Fund (JELF), will help universities more competitively recruit and retain outstanding researchers by helping acquire the state-of-the-art labs, equipment and facilities they need to make discoveries that will have an impact on Canadians.

The Research Facility Support Grants (RFSG) competition provides funding for the operation, maintenance, replacement, repair or upgrade of equipment used in UBC facilities to support research.

The RFSGs are one-year grants of up to $50,000 intended to enhance UBC research, training, and equipment sustainability.  

Researchers located on the UBC Vancouver campus and affiliated hospital sites are eligible to apply.
